Anthony Boardman

Anthony (Tony) Boardman is the Van Dusen Professor of Business Administration in the Strategy and Business Economics Division at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. He studied for his B.A at the University of Kent at Canterbury in England and obtained his PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Prior to taking up his position at UBC he taught at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Tony’s research interests include analysis of the effects of ownership on performance, privatization and contracting out, cost-benefit analysis, and various aspects of public policy. He has published extensively in many leading academic journals including the Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Management Science, and the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. Recently, he co-authored the third edition of Cost-Benefit Analysis: Concepts and Practice, which is published by Prentice Hall. He is currently working on a new book, Strategic Analysis: Concepts and Practice.
Tony has extensive industry and consulting experience with a wide range of organisations in the private and public sectors. Past clients include Stora Enso, Westinghouse Corporation, AGF management, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, The Treasury of New Zealand and all levels of government in Canada. Currently, he is serving a second five-year term as a member of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board.
