Tim Hazledine

Tim Hazledine (Ph D, Warwick) is Professor of Economics at the University of Auckland and a Research Associate of the Institute for the Study of Competition and Regulation in Wellington. Before returning to New Zealand in 1992 he was a Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and also served in the T. D. MacDonald Chair in Industrial Economics at the Bureau of Competition Policy, in Ottawa. His main research and consulting interests are in the economics of markets, transaction cost economics and competition policy; most recently applied to the proposed Alliance between Air New Zealand and Qantas. He is also interested in trade policy and in the economics of governance of universities. He is currently working with Professor David Gillen of UBC on airline pricing and yield management in domestic and international markets.
