Ron Hirshhorn

Ron Hirshhorn is an independent, Ottawa-based economic and policy consultant. He has been an independent consultant since 1992, prior to which he served as a project director at the Economic Council of Canada. Mr. Hirshhorn has undertaken consulting projects for a number of government departments and agencies including Industry Canada, Transport Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, CMHC, HRSD, Finance Canada, the Royal Commission on National Passenger Transportation (RCNPT) and the Canada Transportation Act Review Panel. The governance of transportation agencies and of not-for-profit institutions generally has been one of his areas of research interest. Relevant studies by Mr. Hirshhorn include: “The Governance of Nonprofits” (in Corporate Decision-Making in Canada by Daniels and Mork); The Emerging Sector: In Search of a Framework (CPRN Study); “Organizational and Supervisory Law in the Nonprofit Sector," (CPRN Working Paper co-authored with David Stevens) and "The Ownership and Organization of Transportation Infrastructure - Roads and Airports," (RCNPT Research Report).
