William G. Waters II
Professor Emeritus, Center for Transportation Studies, SAUDER School of Business, University of British Columbia

W.G. (Bill) Waters II is Professor Emeritus and former Director of the Centre for Transportation Studies at the University of British Columbia. He is also former Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Research E (Logistics and Transportation Review). He has an extensive publication record covering all modes of transport.

Dr. Waters has taught in Canada, the U.S., England and Australia, including courses in economics, transportation, cost-benefit analysis and government-business relations. He has held visiting appointments at Oxford University in the UK, and in Australia at the Bureau of Transport Economics in Canberra, the University of Tasmania, and twice at the University of Sydney. He has been a consultant to various government agencies, corporations and the World Bank.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, received the Distinguished Member Award from the Transportation and Public Utilities Group of the American Economics Association, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Transport Research Forum. In 2000-2001, he was one of five persons (and the only academic) commissioned to review Canadian transport legislation and policy directions. Their report Vision and Balance was tabled in Parliament in July 2001.
